Following McCain rally appearance, Bill Cunningham used Obama's middle ...

Well, my friend, Sean, McCain should be repudiating Democrats and leaving conservatives alone. His people told me to give the faithful red meat. Give them red, raw meat."

Cunningham also repeatedly referred to Obama as "Barack Hussein Obama" during the January 27 edition of Fox News' Hannity's America.

Additionally, the blog Think Progress noted that during the segment, Cunningham both referred to Obama as "this Manchurian candidate" and asserted, "I do not believe Barack Hussein Obama is a terrorist or a Manchurian candidate."

During the Hannity & Colmes segment, Cunningham asserted, referring to the controversy surrounding his comments: "What happened to me today is what's going to happen to conservatives for the next eight months if they bring up Barack Hussein Obama's name.

Farmers must fill out thick ag census packet

It's the 2007 Census of Agriculture, coming soon to mailboxes on rural routes all over Iowa and the other 49 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Dating to 1790, the ag census is a government effort to take the pulse of agriculture every five years.

Thick packets of census forms, looking a bit like tax booklets, were mailed Friday. The government isn't asking for the information; farmers are required by law to return their census forms by Feb. 4.

Cal's Anderson, Stanford make hay against Washington schools

He was one of the best and most well-rounded big men in the Nike LeBron James Skills Academy, and he will prove his worth at the next level. If his team can navigate the tournament, you might just see him in the MAAC final during Championship Week on ESPN. Jason Thompson can really play.

3. Shooting Woes? When you are unbeaten, the focus is on your weaknesses, rather than just how good you are. Well, Memphis has some relative weaknesses, but few teams seem able to exploit them enough to steal a win, and it's not like the Tigers haven't played a good schedule. For example, Memphis as a team shoots a poor percentage from the free-throw line (58 percent), which would suggest the Tigers would falter in late game situations and lose in the NCAA Tournament. But Memphis was hardly a great free-throw shooting team the past two years, yet the Tigers made it to the Elite Eight both times.

Warren Jeffs pleads not guilty in Ariz.

KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) -- Polygamist sect leader Warren Jeffs entered a not guilty plea Wednesday to sex charges stemming from the arranged marriages of three teenage girls to older men.

It was Jeffs' first court appearance in Arizona, where prosecutors filed charges against him even before he faced charges in Utah, where he was convicted last year of rape as an accomplice in the arranged marriage of a 14-year-old girl and her 19-year-old cousin.

Jeffs had a slight smile when he walked into the courtroom, and talked in hushed tones with his lawyers. He answered "yes" when Mohave County Superior Court Judge Steven Conn asked if he was Warren Jeffs, but otherwise sat quietly with no expression on his face.

His lawyer, Mike Piccarreta, entered the plea on his behalf. After the hearing, Piccarreta said "it's difficult times" for Jeffs, but he declined to speak further.

Elling's Short Game

Tiger (in) Dubai." The first line of the story reads: Den här veckan avgörs den tredje raka Europatourtävlingen i Förenade Arabemiraten och i Dubai Desert Classic ställs Hook-spelaren Pelle Edberg mot självaste Tiger Woods.

Translated, it is believed to mean, "Annika would have a better chance of beating this dude than I would right now."

Up to his usual tricks, Woods drilled a drive so far down his 15th fairway of the day, it prompted playing partner Colin Montgomerie to crack, "That's reasonable."

Sort of like his opening, 7-under 65, which put him atop the end-of-the-day leaderboard for the fourth time in his five worldwide rounds in 2008.

- While others might disagree, there's a certain hypnotic rhythm to the Golf Channel's broadcasts from the European circuit compared to those in the U.S., where the latter seems intent to fill every second of on-air time with some sort of pithy comment or technological wrinkle.

Political Insider

Four Georgia congressmen who support Romney held a conference call on Saturday, in which they dismissed the endorsement of McCain by Isakson and Chambliss as an example of Senate "clubiness."

"The Senate's a universe of 100 people. They almost seem to be removed from their constituents. I don't know if they sprinkle them with some sort of dust or whatever," said U.S. Rep. Lynn Westmoreland of Coweta County.

Josh Has to Live in Katherine's Shadow

Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley got back to enjoying their every day life after hitting up the Super Bowl festivities this weekend. Unfortunately they didn't receive the warmest welcome home — their SUV was broken into yesterday. These two may have shared their crown as Victoria's Secret's sexiest newlyweds, but Katherine is clearly still the more famous of the celebrity couple. Apparently there was a bit of an uneasy moment at the party when Victoria's Secret model, Selita Ebanks, was set to introduce Josh to perform for the crowd but announced Katherine's name instead. Awkward much? Who do you think was more embarrassed — Josh or Selita?

Fed Cuts Interest Rates by a Half-Point

The Fed has been moving very aggressively lately — making an unprecedented three-quarters of a point cut on Jan. 22, followed by a half-percentage point cut Wednesday. It's a measure of how serious Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke is about problems in the credit market and the threat of a recession. The Fed's main policy-setting interest rate has been pushed down to 3 percent. Whether additional cuts follow depends on what happens in the broad economy, and, to a lesser extent, on the financial markets.

In its statement Wednesday, the Fed left the door open to additional rate cuts by noting that despite everything it has done recently, "downside risks to growth remain." The Fed will be looking closely for signs of deterioration in the job market. If the economy starts to shed jobs rather than generate new ones, the Fed may be cutting rates for the foreseeable future.

Get ready for the summer of Apple

The touch-screen phone has been the talk of both the cellular and PC industries since Jobs unveiled it on stage at Macworld in January, and competitors are likely to respond later this year. But before it gets to the iPhone launch, Apple will pause next week to shift the spotlight back to its core Macintosh business.

On Monday, Jobs is expected to give the keynote at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco. Events such as WWDC are extremely important to Apple's developers, but tend to be overshadowed by the more consumer-oriented Macworld and other special product shindigs, such as last year's "Showtime" event.

Indeed, WWDC is expected to be dominated by Apple's Leopard OS, just like last year's event. Developers will walk away with a near-final copy of Leopard, and Jobs is expected to provide further details on some of the features inside the new release.

Lynx tells online Casanovas to get real

A tongue-in-cheek digital advertising campaign from deodorant brand Lynx is aiming to help men who spend too much time flirting on Facebook and in chatrooms to learn how to pull women in real life.

The campaign, the first work by creative ad agency BBH since it won Lynx's digital business in December, aims to give men "diverse digital content to use to play the seduction game in real life".

In recognition of the fact that the web and gadgets are part of most young men's lifestyle, BBH has put a website, called Get in There, at the heart of the campaign.

The site, lynxeffect.com, has tools including a range of mobile phone applications that will turn a handset into "a pulling tool, a weapon of mass seduction".

Lynx's Fit Girl Finder emits a bleeping sound that "homes in" on an attractive lady.

Elizabeth Hardwick: Writer, co-founder of 'The New York Review of ...

As she recounts in her one truly successful novel, Sleepless Nights (1979), her life in Manhattan was composed of "love and alcohol and clothes on the floor".

She shared an apartment in the Hotel Schuyler on West 45th Street with a gay friend from Kentucky and cast off the strict Protestantism in which she had been raised in favour of a bohemian existence of uncomplicated love affairs and visits to the many night-clubs where jazz was regularly performed. The pages devoted to Billie Holiday in Sleepless Nights are among the most starkly beautiful she ever wrote. She talks of Billie's "luminous self-destruction", her "glittering, sombre and solitary" presence, of her "creamy lips, oily eyelids, violent perfume":

Somehow she had retrieved from darkness the miracle of pure style.
