| Exploding moose steals copper cables
Absolutely hilarious. I think she should be given a visa and allowed to stay indefinitely. She has done an invaluable service to this country, she has exposed a fool proof way for Al Quaeda to breach our national borders and she has also shown how worthless ID cards will be. After all, she was given a pass to allow her into Parliament, which one might think would be somewhat secure. HMG: 0 Brazilian Cleaning Ladies: 1 Steve Browne "...officials seem not to know where she got the pass or to whom it had been issued in the first place" Every security pass I've ever carried has had two things in common, they all bore a picture of my face, and my name. Sometimes more, but never less. This seems to suggest that despite all the TWaT hysteria that our 'representatives' foist upon us, those within parliament still don't really believe the threat sufficiently to implement even the basics of a door entry system such as one might find in any mid size corporation.
Hayden likes ambitious guys
Hayden Panettiere has revealed what attracts her to a guy. "I have to be with someone who is very driven," admits the Heroes star in the April issue of Seventeen. "When they're not, it becomes difficult." The 18-year-old, who plays self-healing cheerleader Claire Bennet in the hit TV show, is rumoured to be dating Heroes co-star Milo Ventimiglia (Peter Petrelli), although neither have confirmed the reports. "I need to learn more about myself because I'm a little confused at the moment. And I don't think I could ever fully give myself to somebody until I do," she adds. Despite her young years, Hayden seems to have worked out the secret to a successful relationship. She says: "I've figured out that the healthiest relationship is where you each have your own life, but they meet at a nice point in the middle.
Wesley Snipes' Tax Fraud and Conspiracy Trial Opens in Ocala, Fla.
OCALA, Fla. Attorneys for Wesley Snipes ticked off more than 70 potential character witnesses, including several celebrities, as jury selection began Monday in the actor's tax fraud and conspiracy trial. Muhammad Ali, Spike Lee, Tom Brokaw, Barbara Walters, Woody Harrelson, Sylvester Stallone and Gus Van Sant were among the names mentioned. Snipes, 45, and two co-defendants, both known tax protesters, are accused of conspiring to defraud the U.S. of millions of dollars. Snipes allegedly first collaborated with Eddie Ray Kahn and Douglas P. Rosile in 2000, then stopped filing tax returns. Prosecutors say he fraudulently tried to retrieve $11 million in paid 1996 and 1997 taxes and directed his movie companies to stop withholding taxes from employees.
Korver still waiting for clean briefs
SEATTLE Even when pressed, Kyle Korver really didn't want to discuss how many times he has done laundry since being traded from Philadelphia to Utah in late December. Suffice it to say it's not been nearly enough. That in mind, he can't wait to travel to Philly on Thursday. "I had some friends just kind of go in my closet and grab some stuff and ship it out," the Jazz's newest shooting guard said. "But it's just, like, the little things that you don't want them digging through ... little stuff like that that I haven't had in the last 45 days." Little, like ... "clean drawers." If it wasn't for dirty underwear, then, Korver might have accepted an invitation to take part in the NBA's long-distance shooting contest this coming Saturday in New Orleans. There, he could have joined several teammates Carlos Boozer (All-Star Game), Deron Williams (skills challenge), Ronnie Brewer and Paul Millsap (rookie-sophomore challenge game) and NBA Development League-assigned rookies Morris Almond and Kyrylo Fesenko (D-League All-Star Game) taking part in various NBA All-Star Weekend festivities.
S.C. voters prepare to make history
Edwards told Britt he would change the federal No Child Left Behind Act, work for universal pre-kindergarten and get more money into poor schools. In Charleston, he also talked about ending trade deals. "I've seen in a very personal way what these trade deals have done to the people of South Carolina," he said. "When I'm your president, we're going to have a different policy with real labor and environmental standards, and we're going to close these tax loopholes for companies that are sending jobs overseas. No more." .
Human Resource Professionals Respond To Flu Season
You sound terrible. Go home." A new survey about flu in the workplace shows that 33 percent of organizations send employees home if they come to work sick. Just over one in 10 offer telecommuting options for workers who are ill but ask to work from home. The 2008 Flu Prevention in the Workplace Survey from the Society for Human Resource Management provides a snapshot of how human resource professionals are responding to the flu season. While most of them (59 percent) say their companies offer free flu vaccine to employees, other options are reported. Eighteen percent of companies encourage employees to get a flu shot offsite and 10 percent will pay for it. Nineteen percent offer shots onsite, but at employees' expense. Three percent do the same, but subsidize part of the cost.
Founders sell HotOrNot
UC Berkeley grads James Hong and Jim Young have sold HotOrNot for a reported $20 million. Hong confirmed TechCrunch's report but not the $20 million figure. The buddies created HotOrNot, which allows users to rate people on a scale of 1 to 10, during the first dotcom wave in 2000, creating a social phenomenon. It reportedly inspired future Web sites, such as YouTube. Since then, the San Francisco site has added other elements, including turning the site into an online dating service and, more recently, developing applications on Facebook. HotOrNot was acquired by the same investors as Avid Life Media, who will create Hot Or Not Media and grow the company. Hong and Young will not be regular contributors to the new company. "Next is just to hang out and help companies I've invested in for a while, then figure things out after a nice long summer vacation," Hong said in an instant messaging conversation.
Hip-Hop Rumors: Ray-J / Kay Slay! Update on Dr. Donda West! Paris ...
Shout out to Wendy Williams and Charlamagne…I checked them out yesterday and their show is funny. Wendy was talking about how she had these rumors on Lil' Kim and they were thinking something was gonna happen to her. Wendy was there during the real era, before the blogger zone. (If she leaves New York, she should move to Delaware or Philly!) Jay-Z did the Apollo last night. I didn't hear anything crazy though. I heard Nelly, Diddy, Chamillionaire and Beyonce came out to enjoy the show. I heard Jigga performed with Nas, Beanie, Freeway, Bleek and the Young Gunz. Rumor has it, B got her groove on through the whole show. “Me give my heart to a woman – never," Jay-Z once rapped. I heard DJ Kay Slay is hosting the new Ray-J mixtape.
Bali hero to sell his medal
A WEST Australian policeman who earned Australia's highest peacetime bravery award will sell his medal, the Cross of Valour, at an auction near Brisbane later today. West Australian Senior Constable Tim Britten was awarded the medal for his rescue efforts following the Bali bombings in Indonesia in 2002, but he says it is time to put the past behind him, The Courier-Mail reported today. On October 12, 2002, Const Britten, wearing a singlet, shorts and thongs, ran in and out of the burning Sari Club to rescue a woman trapped under rubble. He was in Bali on leave from a secondment with the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in East Timor and walking back to his hotel when the Sari Club went up in flames, the paper reported. Const Britten rescued the injured woman from the venue and then worked for hours moving dead bodies from the nightclub into waiting trucks.
Tommy Lee and Another Trashy Blond (Hint: It's Not Pammy)
I officially refuse to believe that Pammy's ex hubby, Tommy Lee, is dating Lorenzo Lamas' ex wife (well, one of his ex wives anyway). It just can't be. I mean, really, it's impossible. My brain just can't filter that kind of information so early in the morning. And it's not Tommy that makes me want to go outside and shout "Nooooooooooooo" like in one of those Greek tragedies or cheap Spanish soap operas my granny is so keen on. No, it's his date the luscious, beautiful and delicate creature that is Shauna Sand .
